Beef Loin

I saw a Beef Loin at Costco's the other day... Is this the same cut as a NY Strip Steak??

    was it the flat sirloin or the long tenderloin?. .. two different things. .. . if you want to see what you can do with a costco tenderloin (i buy them all the time), go to the dizzypigbbq.com website, click on 'recipes', then look under the new customer recipe section and you'll see my recipe for a beef tenderloin roast along with a photo of a whole tenderloin butchered. .. [p]if its the whole sirloin you saw, you can buy that and cut it into steaks to your liking. . .. [p]trex em either way, they are fantastic. . .

    It was 3 steaks to a package.. but you did answer my question thank you... Every now and than when the wife is not looking I buy a beef tenderlion. yummmm

    we have two kids. .. .when i demonstrated the economics of a $65.00 whole tenderloin from costco. .. 2 1/2 meals, she was ok with it, particularly when she found out how good it was on the grill. . .so i buy them, split them into a 3# roast, 4 2inch filet mignons and the rest for chile (i usually wait till i have at least 2 'tails' to make up a pot). .. .when you look at it this way, its not so outrageous. . .

    you could steak it out if you want to, or need to. . .you could easily get 8 nice filet mignons out of a whole tenderloin. .. [p]i just like to do the roast as a change from the steaks, thats all. . .sometimes i'll do different things with the roast, such as rolling it in herbs de provence for a different spin...[p]to see my recipe for the roast, go to dizzypigbbq.com and look at the recipe page. .. you'll see a detailed discussion on how i do it. ..
