Just wondering, what is the best remote thermometer? I've heard you can sync some to your iphone, which one's do that? Also if you have some must have eggcessories, please share them with me, I am working on my wedding registry and would love to fill it with big green egg goodies. Thanks.

  • I don't know about the iphone deal, but I have had equal luck with the cheap ones as well as the expensive ones. The Maverick ET-73 has a probe for the meat and another probe for the air temp in the egg. The air temp probe has an alarm if your egg temp gets too low OR too high. Great for overnight cooks, assuming the signal reaches your bedroom.
See Pithounds post from earlier today called "Picking my egg up on Saturday, accessories?" for other ideas.
  • I've had great luck with the Redi-Chek Remote Smoker Thermometer - especially with the overnight cooks. The too hot/too cool alarm on the wireless unit is great.

I'm not familiar with the iphone app tho.

  • I just got a Stoker last Friday and used it for the first time. It does have the capabilities to monitor and change the temp settings through the phone. I haven't got that far yet but hope to have tried it out this next weekend.

    Thanks Mark

I have the ET-73BGE which is nothing more than the ET-73 that is made by Maverick specifficly for BGE. It has served me well.

As for accessories, I picked up a couple this past weekend that are not real common, but I really like them. One if the Ash Pan, it has a curved lip that rests perfectly on the slide of the bottom vent opening, making ash clean up a breeze. The other is the Fire Wire kabob skewers, the are about 18" long stainless steel cables with a loop on one end and a sharp pointed end on the other. You string your meat and vegie kabobs on the flexible skewers and then you can wrap them around the inside of the egg ftting more on the grill. They are also designed so you can hang the ends outside the egg and they stay cool to ease flipping the kabobs! Way cool eggcessory!
