Has anyone ever used an oven bag in the Egg??

With Thanksgiving around the corner, I was discussing with my wife over whether it is safe to cook a turkey in the Egg using an oven bag
if I were to cook it indirectly over low heat...250 F or so. Would the bag melt? Has anyone tried this?[p]As we make our obligatory family visit runs on this day it would be nice to come home later to our own cooked bird. We would never leave the home with the kitchen oven on so the Egg might be the solution. The oven bag in theory would keep much of the smoke off the bird, allowing the dome heat to work its magic.[p]

SouthJerseyGrEGG,
I have used the reynolds bags for briskets and they worked fine, there are clear oven bags on the market but I haven't tried them.

SouthJerseyGrEGG,[p]WHY?
Wouldn't the bag keep the smoke from the turkey? Isn't one of the reasons for cooking in the egg to get the smoke flavor in the meat? I use the oven bags to brine larger chunks of meat since you can never be sure if the trash bags are food-safe or not.[p]I'd just cook the turkey in the egg and forget the bag.[p]BOB

BobinFla,[p]In my case I simply want to cook the turkey outside so I can leave the house and not worry about the kitchen oven being on. Not everyone in the family has the taste buds for smoke on a turkey, however a little is ok.[p][p]

SouthJerseyGrEGG,[p]If you start saving the leftover charcoal that has already been burned once and use that to cook the turkey, the smoke flavor will be mild to none. I do this for my wife whenever I cook chicken. She too, does not care for the smoke taste either. Just a thought. Mac
