Shamed Into Washing My Eggs

Whenever the proud Egg-parents post pictures of their babies lined up, all brand-spankin'-new lookin'--I cringe.
My motto is "Mind over matter...if you don't mind it doesn't matter." And for years that applied to my Egg corner.
I just went out with a scrubber and detergent and scrubbed the grime and spider webs off Eggs and nests, the crud around the top vents, and the nest side-tables. Rinsed them off and dried them.
Now if I could think of a reason to take picture of them more noteworthy than that they're clean again, I would post it. I'll just have to leave it to your very fertile imaginations.

Hey Judy, I posted a while back a good cleaner for your oil stained wood is Easy off oven cleaner. Wait until the wood is dry and spray the wood down with the Easy Off, wait a several minutes and then wipe it off with a rag. Repeat steps if necessary. It has worked great.

Eddie, what does it do? Looks like bare wood is what I got.

It will get any oil and grease that has soaked into the wood to come to the surface so it can be wiped off. It may not get 100% of it but it will get almost all of it. I used this method refinishing furniture that have had oil based cosmetics soaked into the wood. One day I thought I would give it a test drive with the Egg tables. It has worked great.

OK, and then do you treat the wood with anything else?Judy in San Diego

Thats it to get them clean. You may want to sand them down and finish them with something like Helsman urathane to make them look really nice. I have not finished mine yet but several like Sparky and Bubba Tim have and they look very nice. Look at Tims under his projests and you will see some that have been finished out.

I remember admiring them when I looked at his website! And thinking do I want to do all that work? We'll see.Judy in San Diego

It's not as bad as it sounds. They will look good for a long time and will not get stained like they do now.
