Wing Sauce Tailgating Recipe

I searched the forum and read through numerous recipes for marinades, rubs & after cooking sauces, but I'm really looking for a simple recipe to use while tailgating. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to bring my large BGE to the tailgate, so the wings will likely be deep-fried. I have most all of the dizzy pig rubs and was thinking about applying the night before or day of, then deep-frying at the tailgate and finish by tossing in a bowl of sauce. The sauce is what I'm having the most trouble with. I need something that can be pre-made or tossed together at the tailgate (may have an electric burner or gas stove). I've read numerous suggestions of Frank's + butter/margarine + vinegar & various seasonings. Looking for a medium to hot sauce, but sweet/hot is good too. Please let me know if anyone has a killer, simple recipe! Thanks in advance!

the franks and butter isnt too hot if you have a big bowl of bluecheese dressing to cool it down. something different instead of blue cheese is to mix mayo yogurt and some type of cajun rub or mojo sauce :) ive also smoked then fried the wings breifly, wonder how that would be smoking them to temp cooling down then deepfrying, if you try that you want them heavily smoked as the frier takes some smoke flavor away

you can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it
  • I like to mix in ground chipotle pepper and a tbs or two of honey...to whatever concoction you choose for the sauce - franks / texas pete's + butter...also pour 1/4 cup of coke or dr. pepper in there if you want to dumb them down some more...but the chipotle + honey makes em stingy sweet!

I did some this week that were real tasty and real easy. Washed and patted dry. Brushed on EVOO, light sprinkle of Dizzy Dust and let sit a few. Put on the egg at about 400 dome till done, turning every few mins. When finished I put them in a baggie and covered with Anchor wing sauce and shook the baggie. I let them sit in the baggie for a bit. They were great.

    Ingredients
    For the wings:
    1 cup hot sauce
    1/2 cup honey
    6 tablespoons unsalted butter
    1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
    Salt
    Freshly ground black pepper
    24 chicken wings, tips removed

This is off the food network website from Bobby Flay really tasty, plus you can tweak to your taste!!!

Thank you for all your replies! I've got several new ideas to try. On the anchor wing sauce, is this available at local grocery chains or are you making from scratch (seen some online recipes)?

I got the Anchor sauce online. I think it was from Freds.
