Cleaning the felt gasket

What can I use the clean the felt gasket? The felt gaskets are sticking together making it difficult to open the BGE.

    No answer, just some thoughts.

    If you haven't spilled any liquid on the gasket, I would think you are getting adhesive heating and seeping up into the gaskets.

    Other than that, I wouldn't bother cleaning the felt.

    You might want to use some foil in the areas that seem to be sticking, hopefully the seepage will stop at some point.
