Flashback protection trick -- probably "overkill"

I've had a couple of flashbacks in the last two years -- I do not enjoy them. So I developed a trick that I use when I do a high-temp cook followed by a "dwell" [with the vents shut]. [p]When I open the Egg after the dwell, of course I first open the top and bottom vents fully. But in an eggcess of caution, I then use a long stick to lift the handle. I have a table surrounding my Egg; I put a brick on the table near the handle, and I use the long stick as a lever to lift up on the handle. I lift it a few inches and wait for a few seconds. Then I just lift the handle with my gloved hand.[p]This is probably much more caution than is necessary, but I think the minor inconvenience is worthwhile.
