Just got my first BGE this month. It's at the cottage in northern Ontario Canada (or as those in the USA might say, my "cabin") and it can get quite COLD there.[p]In extreme cold, is there anything I have to worry about with startup?[p]Does it take alot longer in the cold?[p]Thanks...Dave[p]p.s. any BGE fans in the Toronto area?

    daddyg,
Down here in Colorado, I don't have any startup problems winter or summer. Seems to take about the same length of time year round. [p]One thing I have noticed is that on shut down, when it snows, you can get a skin of ice on the dome. Hasn't presented a problem, but you might want to consider covering yours.[p]Ken

BlueSmoke, thanks. I ordered a cover for my BGE.

  • daddyg, I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and have used my BGE at temperatures below zero Farenheit. I've had no problems at all(other than tracking all that snow into the house after I go out to check on the meat!) I'm sure it takes a bit more time to warm up to "operating" temperature, but otherwise it seems to cook just fine despite the cold. Good luck!
