Thanks to Ross in Ventura's Cuban Pulled Pork recipe, I decided to make authentic Cuban sandwiches. Also thanks to FlaPoolman for the wonderful mangos he sent from FL
Also, thanks to reeglem for helping with the cook and doing this post.
I started with Ross in Ventura's famous Cuban pulled pork.
Reelgem went to Restaurant Depot and picked up a Boston butt-bone in. I had previously had ordered some Shun knives to help in my prep.

Had some cuban bread flown in next day air.

Ingredients: yellow mustard, dill pickels sliced thin, smoked sweet ham, cuban pulled pork, egg smoked swiss cheese, and another layer of pickels.

Butter both sides of the bread, and put it on a CI pancake griddle on the egg with a sandwich press and cooked 3 min. per side just until the cheese just starts to melt.

To accompany this sandwich was some margaritas and beer.

And then some homemade mango ice cream for dessert!
Fresh Flapoolman mangos

Into the ice cream maker

Ice cream is done!

Wow!! Great job guys! We always use our george foreman grill for the press part(a little butter and a slight sprinkling of granulated garlic on the crust of the bread.). Those look great! I was going to see if yall were willing to adopt me when I saw the knives, but now I think Rory and I will just move in and refuse to leave til we are fed.

Ass-kickin Del! I love me some Cuban sandwiches. Looking forward to seeing you in the ATL.

GB
that looks like the real meal deal. The sandwiches are plain and simple like a Cuban should be, the drinks the best but the ice cream is to die for.
You can cater for a party at my home anytime.

Pat, from a veteran EGGER, that means alot to me. Thank you for such a nice compliment. Also, thank you for the mangos. I finally got to enjoy some mango ice cream. I haven't had any since I lived in Miami. Should I bring a Shun to share with you in Atlanta?????
-
Thank you Rod, you were a big help with the Boston Butt's on my last cook when I started loosing temp. Thanks for talking me through it. I had the same thing happen with the Cuban pork cook, but thanks to you I know what to do. I am still a newbie, but everyone is so GREAT at helping out with their knowledge!!! The knives are unbelieveable and a true work of ART!!! They really have made trimming meat & slicing so much easier.
-
My GOOD Friend, We have not talked in a long time. Coming from Miami, my favorite sandwich has always been a Cuban. So I decides to do a cook that was special to me. The knives are GREAT Steven. Are you going to Atlanta???
