I thought I would share yesterdays sunset. The first two are looking towards the Sanibel Causeway to the west, the last one is towards the southeast and the bridge to Ft. Myers Beach just right of center. Someone got a typical summer shower, wasn't us.
Have a great day,
Gator

Gator, really nice!
You kicked it off with a water theme, so here's a shot of the marsh west of Charleston:
-
Don't have any new water or sunset pics, but I did take these outdoor shots this weekend:

Have you ever wondered what makes those little water ways in marshes like that?
-
Just about 12 hours later, same views . . .
Have a great day,

I'll see your westerly view sunset and raise you an easterly view sunrise, a la South Carolina.

I call with a full moon over the ball fields.

Hi Ray,
I have wondered that same thing and was fortunate to have spent part of my childhood growing up in a similar ecosystem but further north. We had numerous marshes, the next town north of us was Marshfield, MA.
Marshes of this type are typical of estuarine or estuary ecosystems where rivers or creeks join the ocean. They are extremely important nursery grounds for many marine animals like your favorite saltwater fish, shrimp and crabs.
The drainage patterns of the marsh are actually a fractal pattern that is repeated in a smaller scale as you move further into the marsh. Almost any geological or geographical feature can cause accumulating sediments and decomposing plant matter to form the twisting, turning patters typical of these drainage systems. There is a good article on estuaries here.

Good info Gator...I just know I love to flyfish in those estuaries....here Mr Snook, Redfish, trout, etc....
-
Nice! I'd have to drive a good 2 hours east to get that shot. LC or Bubba Tim could get that one. For land animals we sure love our water.

I agree Kim, most people may not get excited over an estuary but where I grew up we had Striped Bass, Bluefish, Flounder and Mackerel in unimaginable numbers (back then). I think we have finally realized the value of the estuaries and would like to think that most of them are now being strictly protected. We have far to much to loose with out them. Now that I live down south I agree with you . . ."....here Mr Snook, Redfish, trout, etc....". :cheer:

Hahaha, I think Dexter knows how to wrap Julie around his little paw. How can you get mad at a face like that? Nice photos Julie. The apple crop is looking good! The sauerkraut and pickles look good also, were they for breakfast?

I have been playing around with my new camera. Between taking pictures of meals and stuff in the yard, my wife is sure I need a checkup from the neck up.

Cool shots gator. That's a beautiful area. I've not been down there in a while.
Here are my woosday contributions. From last week out in Colorado and Utah. Cheers!!

Good Lord! That must have been one heck of a week Chris!
I haven't been out west in a long time. Heck, I haven't been
out of Florida in a long time. This is a beautiful area as
long as the hurricanes stay far, far away. Getting out west adds some
great diversity. So much of this country is so spectacular it just
amazes me. Thanks for the contribution.

Those are delicious looking tomato's Misippi, nice photos. What are the first shot, are they Sweet 100's? That's what my Dad used to grow, I made many a detour through his garden to steal a handful. Man, were they good.
Hope the arms are being kind to you.

Thanks Gator. It's like a giant playground out there if you are into the outdoors. We saw and did so many things with some old friends and my family. 4-wheeling, hiking, motorbiking, jet boat tour, camping. Then went to the Carbondale Mountain Air Festival one day. Heard some good music. All in all an action packed 11 days. I've been to the Rockies a dozen times, but my family has never been. That entire swath of the USA that's on Mountain Time is about as beautiful as it gets in the world.
Cheers!
