New Egg on Wooden Deck

Unknown
edited November -1 in EggHead Forum
I just bought my first egg and I am putting it in one of the custom tables on my wood deck. Any thoughts on whether or not I need some kind of protective pad around it?
If so, where do I get one?
Thank you.

Kraaken,[p]Some company makes a grill pad (a concrete material) that is sold at many home improvement stores. I don't think its necessary (had my eggs for over 4 years and never had an issue).[p]Smokey

    Kraaken,
most important is to use the 3 small feet to provide distance from the table itself - then if you want to feel more safe like many of us put those feet on a concrete stepping stone. As for the pad that Smokey mentioned that can give you further peace of mind, but like him I don't use one nor see the need and my BGEs are on a wooden deck also. BTW...WELCOME TO THE FAMILY!!!

  • Kraaken,
I put a piece of stainless steel under mine that has a 4 inch lip to cover the side, keeps it clean when ashes fall or sparks fly.
