the top
I have just dropped the little green top on my deck and shattered it. My fault, entirely. I lifted some chicken off and was talking on the phone to my dad and was closing up shop not paying attention and it sorta squirted outa my hands.... if I call BGE what's it gonna cost to ship to me? Come on guys... I can't be the only idiot to do this... South Carolina won last night so I was trying to celebrate.... it was save the margarita or the top..... in hindsight I made a pretty huge error in judgement...

smokerchef,[p]I did the same on my medium (no margaritas involved). I never replaced it. I used a fire brick and the daisy wheel top.[p]Smokey

Smokey,
can you tell me with a daisey wheel, why would 1 need the ceramic top?
-
smokerchef, come to EGGtoberfest and beg for a new one. No shipping and it should at least be fun. Since, you a Gamecock fan, where do you live? Maybe someone from around you is coming to EGGtoberfest and would be willing to bring it back. Also, to answer the other question as to why would you need it: The green ceramic cap is the rain cap. It keeps rain out whereas the daisy wheel does not. If you don't have it covered, you should leave the green cap on, not the daisy wheel.
-
Wil,
You need the ceramic top because the daisy top does not close tight enough to get a good quick snuff out of the fire. [p]~nikki

nikkig,
thanks kindly, but is it used for cooking?
-
JB Weld fixed mine when I dropped it.

Wil,
no....most people use the daisy or the old slide top. I'm sure there are some out there who do use just the ceramic lid though. [p]~nikki
