Picking up some Lafayette Coney Island chili from Detroit tonight. Will make a few hotdogs on the egg and try to find I loose meat hamburger recipe also. pics will follow later.

Looking forward to seeing the results. I have been playing with some loose meat hamburger also.

I have come up with a pretty good chili and today I am going to play with using that for some sloppyjoe makings.

Saw the Bobby Flay throwdown last night with the Sloppy Joe's. Got me thinkin.

Not sure about that Detroit sauce but if Im not mistaken, typiccaly Coney style Hot Dog sauce is mostly GB chopped finely with tomato sauce and a load of cumin. The Varsity sauce is similar. This is totally different than Sloppy Joe sauce, flavor wise anyway.

All just my humble opinions of course...

the second recipe is a good coney island recipe, lots of spice and alot different than a typical chili sauce. i make this alot. i never heard anything called loose meat before but i do love sloppy joes if thats what it is;)

The sauce is different than any other I have has. No beans. Google detroit coney island sauce and there is a bunch of different sites that talk about it. It's not your typical chili.

Its like coney sauce but you have to eat it while listening to Motown and watching a really bad football team.
