Inserting avatars

Can someone tell me how to insert an animated avatar from a free site? I want to do it for my grandson, and don't know how to make it work. I tried, but only got the strings below, not the avatar.
Here's what it shows:
HTML code:
Direct link to avatar:
http://img1.jurko.net/avatar_1252.gif
Forum signature (it doesn't say any particular forum):
Please tell me how to get it into his profile, or signature, or where ever he want to use it.
Thanks,
Judy

Ok, I see it got in. So is the last string for inserting Forum signature the right one?
The HTML code doesn't show in the post. I'll try to show it again:Judy in San Diego -
Hi Judy,
I just finished playing with avatars over on the main forum page for c tredwell @ http://www.eggheadforum.com/index.php?option=com_simpleboard&func=view&id=693973&catid=1. If you read my two post over there they may help. As I understand it the avatar graphic should be on your hard drive so it can be up loaded from there. The graphic should also be 70 X 70 pixels in size so you may have to do a little editing there. Hope this helps,
Gator

I did see the posts and they didn't mean much to me, having never gone through the process. But I'll give it more attention and play around with it. I don't know why the avatar worked with the "Forum signature" code. Maybe that code is the one to experiment with.
Later, 'gator (I've been dying to use that on you)

LOL, I get the "Later, 'gator" from my brother all the time.
I think the "Forum signature" image can be larger then an avatar. Avatars are pretty specific. The avatar you are trying to use is 100 X 79, I think the prescribed size is 70 X 70. It is an animated gif file and may be tricky to resize.
Later,
Gator (LOL, It works for me too.) -
