DigiQ II Scan Mode?

Anyone know how to get the DigiQ into and out of "scan" mode, meaning where the display alternates between food and pit temps, rather than just showing one of them? I got it into scan mode by mistake and want to get it back out, but I don't know which button sequence will do this.
My users guide indicates that the scan mode exists, but doesn't say how to do it.

Remove the power plug and count to five. When you want to put back in mode just depress the "p" & "U" buttons simultaneously.
Look on the back of the unit and it shows the button sequences.
