I made the recipe in Chris Shlesinger's The Thrill of the Grill which involved slicing the sweets about 1/2 inch, sprinkling with a spice rub, and basting them with a molasses and butter combo toward the end. They were very good. If you nag me, I'll look up the recipe at home.
