Smoked Cheese - anyone?

Being from Wisconsin "America's Dairyland", we have access to some great cheese... Has anyone here tried to smoke cheese in an egg? Is it possible to get the egg low enough to avoid a meltdown? Or do they smoke cheese differently than meats and seafood. Just wondering...[p]MapMan

    mike O did a thing at last waldorf eggfest, where he took some big old hunks of provelone, and threw them on the grill direct at something like 500 degrees, turning often. .the outside got kind of crusty and held in all the hot gooy cheese. . was really excellent and, even after only a few minutes on the grill, had a great smokey taste. .. [p]if you go to the naked whiz's site and look at the pictures of forum folks, mike O's picture is there actually turning one of the hunks of cheese. . .pretty neat stuff. . .

    <p />MapMan:[p]If you do a Google search of the archives a few threads can b found discusing two or three different ways to smoke cheese in ceramic cookers.
