<p />Howdy all![p]I tried somethin a little different for me a few days ago. With the amount of tomatoes coming out of my garden these days, I had to come up with a few ideas. I had some left over ABT inerds, so I cored a tomato, filled with the mixture then covered that with a mexican cheese. I made this little lifter out of an cookie box, then just wrapped it in hd foil to create a "stand" for my little tomato. Cooked @ 250 until the little guy fell inside the stand due to shrinkage.
I thought it was wonderful. My wife thought it was gross because she hates tomato's.

That is a road apple. Invented by me when I was sick of hearing about ABTs a while back. I ususally use a slice of cheese towards the end and let it melt all over the tomato.[/b]

MickeyT,[p]I think it might have been known as a stuffed tomato before I named it so we're both following up. [p]I usually make a smoked chicken and pesto stuffing and top them with provolone.

I make these with cherry or grape tomatoes. But they aren't baked. Looks good

What a cool original idea! Using leftover ABT stuff to stuff a tomato! That along with the mexican cheese has to give them a great taste when smoked! [p]Always looking for ways to use up leftovers![p]Nice pic too.
