Resting Butts and Briskets

Just curious about resting butts and briskets. I have always wrapped and placed them in cooler with towels, paper etc. Why not wrap as usual and put back in the shutting down egg? Wouldn’t that serve the same purpose as preheating your cooler? Think I will try it on a couple of butts today and see how it works.

Sounds like it would work. I thought about doing it. Lower my egg temp to 200 and let it ride to serving time.

Well I shut down the egg, wrapped the 2 butts in HD foil and placed them back in the egg. 2 hrs later, egg is 100 degrees (that’s the temp on the deck today). Removed and pulled butts and they were perfect. No more cooler/towels/paper or preheating cooler for me. Give it a try; I think you will like it.
