Packing 4 butts on a grid ....

Ok I have managed to get 4 butts on one grid, could not lay them all flat. Is that going to matter? I got them in there the best way I could and the lid would barely shut. See any problems that I might encounter?

No problem....If they are 7-8 lbs each....plan on pullin them off the egg tomorrow at this time.
Of course that assumes that you are going to do them at 200-225 grate temp -
Nah, you should be good. Thirty-two pounds of butt is a lot, but surely not enough to choke a Large.
-
Grid is at 230, need them done by 4:00 Saturday evening, should I bump the temp up?
-
No, I'd leave it low. Plan on trying to pull them around 2-3 hours before you eat, wrapping in foil and towels and tucking them into a cooler to steam. They'll pull like cotton candy.
-
Try to separate them as much as possible as they shrink. Otherwise they will cook as though they are one large butt (1.5 hr * 32#). :ohmy:
-
Not yet...at least I wouldn't.
I would keep it where you got it, and make sure to maintain temp. Tomorrow when you wake up, make sure you bump it if you need to. Try to finish before noon, then you have time to spare and can double foil and put em in a cooler or oven. -
Jeffersonian = Too fast...
That is good for some things, but not Butt cookin! :laugh: -
I like it when someone with a gasser tells me he's low-n-slowed something like ribs...a whole two, maybe even three hours! :laugh: :laugh: That's a quick cook in an Egg!
-
Not really..you may sacrifice a "little" bark..but they are gonna shrink as they cook...you'll be fine..

I've done that several times, I stand them up on the narrow end and lean them against each other. -RP
