I recently purchased a SMALL cast iron grate for use with the spider on a large egg.
The cost for the grate was $47.45 which included shipping. The spider and small CI grate is a terrific combination.

My Large & spider will accommodate the medium CI grid.

I am sort of wishing I would have purchased the mediuim CI grid for use on the spider rather than purchasing the large CI grid.

I find myself using the spider and the medium grid.

Same here. I haven't used the Large CI grid in the Large since I started using the Small CI grid on the Spider. (I have a newer Large so the Medium CI grid won't fit.)

I like to do steaks on the spider with th CI grid. I wish I had known the medium fit on the spider instead I got the small.

The medium will fit depending when the large was made.

You could load the lump just below the top of the fire box, remove the fire ring and put the large CI grate on the fire ring.

When the sear is done put the Adjustable Rig on the fire ring with the large grid for the roast.

I just hate changing the ceramics inside the egg.
