Went to Restaurant Depot today and got some "stuff". The Royal Oak was $7.99. I'm a little worried as I didn't see where it was made, else I'd have gotten more.!!
My first time to a RD.....was quite an experience, Thank you Susan for making it happen!

John, I always look on the back panel near the bottom and it should read Made in USA

Uh Ohhhhhh!! I found it! It was marked in the side crease right near the top of the bag so you couldn't see it easily. I've never seen a bag of lump marked where this one is. Anyway, it's made in Argentina! I guess I'm screwed.....maybe I can sell them to Pete!! :woohoo:

The bags are just under 18#'s. You need a business license to set up an account. If you do it online you get a $25 credit on your first purchase.

It can be sparky when hit with a torch, but once the torch is removed it burns like a champ.

I will not do these troop cooks without it. The RO (BGE) just doesn't last all night like the WGC does.

Yes I am still after you WG hahah

You'll REALLY know sparky if the RO was made in Argentina. Should say something on the upper side of the bag...

I guess it's no big gamble at $8, but I made the same call and hated the stuff. Ended up giving away that newly opened bag and 2 more since I couldn't return it. Some people like it and especially this close to the 4th of July you can use it in place of sparklers!!!

If you went to the location in Norcross you just bought bags of RO that you definitely want to return. It is from Argentina and sparks so much I returned all of the bags I bought last week. :(

Seems like you have a lot of pizza in your future. No problem to return the lump to RD as I have made the same mistake when I am in a hurry. If the sparking is minimal you might consider mixing it in with the good stuff. They do stock the stuff made in Georgia all you have to do is keep your eyes open.A old fart on this forum should have none better.Beers.

See if they will let you return it....you absolutely can not use it for high temp cooks..the egg will look like a volcano...out the lower vent also..I had a pitcher of water on hand it was sparkin so bad I thought it would start a fire..

Hey John - wish I had known I would have tried to meet you there. I work about 10 minutes away.

Regarding the Royal Oak - the color of the top band they use to stitch the bag closed is a giveaway. Black bands are Argentine lump. Red bands are American. At Restaurant Depot you can see the bands on the pallets that are way up top. I have had them pull pallets down for me to buy the US stuff.

Hey Rod I remember about what you told me last week. When I returned my RO back to RD I scanned every pallet in the place and it is all Argentine Lump. I will go by the downtown location next week and check their supply. I work right around the corner from there.

Don't be so sure. I buy the US stuff there all the time. They usually have both varieties in the store kept in different locations. You just need to look at what you're buying.

How many pizzas can you guys eat?Let us say that one pizza will have 2 1/2 to 3 cups of flour.Which in the dry weight scale would be close to 5oz.per cup.Now you divide that into a fifty pound bag that would equate to two hundred and sixty six pizzas. Lots of carbs with that much pizza.
