Dome Thermometer Calibration

I calibrated the dome thermometer when I assembled my Egg ..... should this be done routinely or was the one calibration good enough ??

agree on the monthly with BGE brand, but quarterly is plenty with Tel-Tru brand. Also he would be wise to remove that spring clip on the inside since with that thing locked on the probe a mere turn of the dial will throw it out of calibration. Don't worry gravity will keep the thermometer in place!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time!

I would suggest that you do it anytime you have a cook that you can not afford to lose (money wise or a big cook for an event). If I am doing butt for myself I don't bother. But if I am doing like 3 butts or $50 worth of ribs, you bet your can I I check it.
I even have paper plates and the specific wrench size in my "egg pile" that my wife lets me keep with the cookbooks. -
Twice a year I think would be fine. I just did mine a few weeks ago after about two years and it was dead on. I don't think they don't drift much after they are set.
