A coworker's wife is German and gets stuff from there. They are foodies also. He gave me this. Hickory smoked salt.

  • Hi Molly:

I'm sure this isn't much help, but my wife (Anke) says it's smoked salt - hickory smoked.

Her first question was "do you want me to have someone bring you some"...

We have visitors from Germany all year round - they're always bringing care packages.

Sure do! I thought I would add this to a rub and see what I think. Any feedback is apprecieated for sure! What else does Anke like to get on a regular basis? Thanks so much.

  • Mostly things that she can't get here...cakes, cookies, hand creams, and lots of soups for the kids...

My kids love these instant soups - pirate, sun and moon, etc. - They're so bad - but they love them.

Here was that last care package from Oma and Opa...

That bag has about 150 packages of the soup.

Are you going to Nieggara Fest? I'm sure I could bring some there.

    Molly,
You can get smoked salt from Savory Spice Shops in Denver, Boulder and Littleton. The one I use the most in my BBQ business is the alder smoked seas salt from them. They have one of the most incredible selections of spices including sea salts from around the world. You can go to www.savoryspiceshop.com

    Molly,
The other thing that Savory Spice does is that they will work with you to make a rub just for you. If you like one of their rubs, or someone else's but want a change to it they'll work with you. A few years ago I was looking for a specific type of rub with a cherry flavor. They sent me 3 different rubs of theirs that they altered to fit my needs. I picked the one I liked best and we went from there.
