14# turkey, brined, rubbed with olive oil.
Setup: plate setter, drip pan, grill and turkey sitting on a turkey rack. (not a V rack) just a wire rack with lifting handles.[p]I see several recipes say breast side down till about 135° and flip over, how hard is it to turn the bird over. Foil or not.[p]Thanks,
New Bob

    New Bob,
I always lay my turkeys directly on a grill with the same set up you have, breast side up and never flip. Just make sure you've got a good thermometer.

    Thannks Shelby,
I've only done one and believe that is what I did. If you're still here what temp.????? 325°-350° (dome) sound about right??? or do you have something that you like better???[p]I plan on putting it in Mr.EGg about 1:15 today.[p]Cheers,
    New Bob

  • New Bob,
Inquiring minds want to know![p]I start out with high temp (450) to brown the outside, and then let the temp drop to a working number of about 325 to finish the cook. (After first 15-30 min.)
I don't flip it, cover it, baste it or open the dome. Breast down, in their natural walking position...just like my wife taught me.[p]Mike in MN
