Is there a reason kosher salt is recomended for a steak sear?

    It's courser and is pure salt. Course Ground Sea Salt will work too..

    Because they can't use it on pork? :)

    I'm sorry, that may have been in bad taste . . . less then politically correct, no offense intended.

    Kosher salt is as pure as it gets with no extra flavors from iodine or what ever.
