Do I want a small?

Help! I have an opportunity to buy a small at a good price (under $200). I don't know that I really need it but half the time there are only two people in the house and the large is, well, large. [p]Can I do a chicken standing on the small? Will I take it camping or is it too big? I cook 4 - 5 times a week on the large now and really like it, but the call of another in the family is significant.[p]Any advice from those with a small and a large would be appreciated.[p]Bill T

Bill T,[p]I have both and use my small more than I do my large since I got it. It is an excellent cooking machine for about anything. Camping...yes. Stand up chicken...yes. Be sure you get the spring assist hinge as it make it much more usable.[p]I have gotten to where I only use the large for smoking those looooong low temp meals. The small is used for about everything else in my situation.

Bill T,
You must buy it. Not only is it a great travelling cooker, but you will find you use it for almost any small cook you do at home. Under 200 is a steal![p]Chris

Bill T, I have a large and a small. The small gets more use although I would never, ever give up the large... Your price on the small is GREAT, below wholesale, if it has the spring assist hinge, temp guage, top, etc. Go for it!!

Bill, I just brought home my small from Atlanta 3 weeks ago. I have a couple larges and didn't really see what good a small would do. Boy, was I ever mistaken! The small is perfect for grillin' up a couple steaks or 10-12 brats. I believe it actually sears better than the large. I haven't tried any longer cooks on it yet, but I know Qbabe and a few others do them regularly. Bottom line is that the small is a great investment. It is going to Savannah with me tomorrow.[p]Jim

Bill T,[p]ABSOLUTELY, YES! Get it, especially at that price. Even if it has the old hinge, you can upgrade and still have a good deal on price....[p]The small is a great little cooker. We take ours camping all the time and I can't imagine how we did without it all these years. There's nothing like the smell of cherry smoke and pork in the air when you crawl out of the tent...! We use it for all kinds of things...burgers and dogs for lunches, dutch oven chili, spaghetti sauce, stew, and the more obvious things like spatchcock chicken, pork tenderloins, and ESPECIALLY steaks...it does a mean steak![p]Don't wait...! Go get it now! At that price, you don't want to lose the opportunity.....[p]Oh, yeah, and when you're not camping, you can do garlic bread, side dishes like hot german potatoe salad, beans, grilled veggies or pineapple, and on and on and on.....[p]You won't regret it...

Bill T,
Yes, buy it for that price. For one rack of ribs, the Small BGE is the best.
