OK-nubee here. How does the top damper fasten to the top dome?

    The daisy wheel just sets on the dome top.

    You want to be able to easily get the daisy wheel off, as there are times you won't use it at all (as when searing a steak), when you want the maximum airflow. When you're done cooking, you want to swap it for the ceramic top to shut down the fire quickly, preserving the unused lump. As some here suggest, put your daisy wheel in your Egg when you shut it down, which will help to minimize the amount of gunk that builds up on it.

    To elaborate a bit, one you've set the daisy to the right settings, line up the screw with the direction the Egg opens. That way, when you open the lid, the setting won't change.
