Cleaning daisey wheel
Aleingone
Posts: 1
My daisey wheel is covered with black goop, grease I suppose. It is impossible to open without first heating it up on the grill. Does anyone know of a method to clean this without damaging it?

Put it in the Egg and get the temp up to 700+ degrees. Let it burn there for 20-30 minutes and it will come out like new.[p]Jim

Aleingone,
I just set mine inside the egg when I am shutting it down. All the grease seems to melt away.

Aleingone,
Wash it in paint thinner - the grease comes off easily.

Aleingone,
I find the easiest way which will keep the paint in tact vs burning it off and then contending with rust is merely to submerse it overnight in a small plastic pail using straight household ammonia. Cover it with Saran wrap and watch out for the fumes. In the morning a brush will finish off any stubborn stuff while you rinse it off under running water.
