Like on the side of a gas grill for my outdoor kitchen but electric, free standing and a cover. I have looked around but have not seen anything. Anybody have one or know where to look? THANKS!!

I also was thinking of something similar. Costco.ca sells an induction cooker (a little bigger than a single large burner)and small enough to store inside when not in use. Haven't decided yet.

I want something that I can build in the counter beside the eggs but that has a cover & not as big as a stove top.

kinda, but the switch would have to be on the top. Free standing was a bad choice of words, nothing but the burner is what I meant

Not very easy to find indeed :S
I did find this:
http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100478978&N=10000003+90065+501715
Although it is gas, there's gotta be something electric?
Hopefully someone else will have ideas. -
susan , i hate to be a drag but electric outside ??? not going to happen ..lots of gas options but a single electric burner built in ,, how could it pass ul labs certification? no way they can assure it would be water proof and water and electricity do not mix well
lots of propane options and you can hide the tank,,

I bought a Burton Induction cook-top electric that we use all the time both inside and out. It works on any pan that a magnet will stick too. It stays cool to the touch yet cooks great.
I have no problems and love the portability of the unit. These are what you see at cooking demonstrations.

Are you looking for something to compliment the egg? If to compliment the egg, why not another egg? Just asking and trying to get a feel for what your purpose of an electric side burner is...

Thanks guys! guess I will go another route

I have 2 eggs & deciding how many more  I just wanted something for boiling pasta, quick sauce etc. My contractor friend is going to come to the house next week and I just wanted to try and get my spacing down. I was thinking of a side burner at one time-for steaming clams, mussels, etc. Had one on my gasser and it was real handy.
Lot of people here came up with great leads for for single burner gas options. One of the coolest was, I think, Butane? Could only use the replacement cartridges made for the unit. You couldn't just get a tank of gas from the local hardware store.
I still think it's a good idea..... -
Gotcha, although I don't think you can have too many eggs...
I am scared to death of propane, which is why I went the route of the egg, initially... It just turned out to be much more than what I expected...
I am not sure where you are located, but my concern would also be, what can I do when the power is out... I like the option of doing everything on the egg(s)... No more tuna/crackers for me... it is what I lived on for a couple of days after friggin Katrina came through...

Here's one that someone recommended...

I need compact, easy to use and dependable. Don't want something that requres tinkering to keep working. this looks good. -
try Viking.com -
If you want to consider propane there is a LARGE selection here...
