Tacos or Empanadas??

I found a recipe on the Pillsbury website. You take Pillsbury Grand biscuits roll them out and then take taco meat, sauteed onions, taco seasoning & cheese and fold the biscuit over and crimp them. I baked them on the small at 375 for about 15 minutes. They were very, very good.
Ready to bake:

Ready to eat:

Plated:

Dessert was flour taco, whipped cream cheese, craisins & white chocolate chips toasted on the small

Yummy

I'm guessing Ginny did all the prep and all you did was cook them, right???

I have to lean to the empanadas, but looks like a fun cook. With those sides and some jalapenos, everyone here would be well fed.LBGE Katy (Houston) TX

Definitely empanadas, and vaguely reminiscent of lunch last Friday.
Now if you can replicate those rib meat taquitos you give me about 15 minutes notice for the drive over. -
Faith,
Yes Ginny did all the prep but she got to eat them too!!!

Hey Rod I have some rib meat in the freezer...I may have to try that this weekend..
and yes they are to simple not to do...they were really tasty -
???Empanados??? :laugh:or Tacanadas??? :silly:

Yes, it does look good!

One thing you might try is using wonton wrappers. I have found that the pie crust gets to be a little much. And when you crimp the edges, use a fork. It gives it a little style.

BTW the Taco Craisins are a recipe courtesy of Dr BBQ...sorry I forgot to mention that earlier...

Now this could be my dinner tonight. Looks soooo good, and very kid friendly.
Did you precook the taco meat? -
Those would be empanadas, but they look great by whatever name you want to use.

Hitch,
Yes we browned the ground beef, sauteed onions and added 1 packet of taco seasoning mix and cooked it all together. We used lean gr beef so there was not much grease. You take the Pillsbury Grands and flatten them and roll them out to about 6" round. Then add meat & cheese and fold over and crimp. I baked them at 375 for about 15 minutes. I turned them a few times and flipped them over to get the tops brown...the kids will love them & the dessert also... -
Kim....a delicious innovation

Did them just like you said to. Turned out great. Kids loved them, and so did all the adults. Made 16 of them. Had SC, Guac, lettuce, tomatoes, Hot Salsa, Jalapenos, and extra cheese as toppings. Kids ate them like sandwiches, but we topped them and used forks. Went real well with cold fresh watermelon.
Sorry no dinner pics...

Glad they turned out great & the kids liked them....
