Harbor Freight Propane Torch

I'm thinking about picking up the propane torch with a push button igniter by Harbor Freight for use with my egg. I have a couple of questions however. Can the torch be used with MAPP? Secondly, can you spot light the lump with this large torch? I'm also thinking about getting a BernzOmatic torch with a 5-foot hose.

You can use the weedburner to light the egg. works great, but overkill to be honest.
The propane heads are not interchangeable with MAPP gas. You can use propane on a MAPP rated head, but not the other way around. -
What do you prefer to light the egg with?

I normally use a MAPP torch.

I dunno the brand. Bottle is yellow, trigger is black.
Got it at Home Depot. Brand doesn't matter. -
Wow, Flamethrower?...
How long do you think the gasket is gonna last lighting it that way...

I use the weed burner on all my cookers and the BGE is no exception. You can buy an adapter from HF to use a lantern size disposable propane can if you don't want to drag around a 5lb LPG tank.
A word of caution though-if you fire up your Egg like the pic Fidel posted the heat shrink tubing will melt and the piezo starter will fall out. And don't loan it to anyone with a stick burning pit either-Don't ask me how I know this!
Download some coupons from HF and you can pic one up for @ $20 this weekend. -
I think I'll stick with the rolled up newsprint or BGE starter cubes. They never fail and present a minimum risk of disfiguring and painful 3rd deg burn scarring.
