Last year a friend of mine gave me a piece of a cherry tree to use in my egg. I have been cutting off the bark as I use a chunk. A few minutes ago I cut my finger. Just a small cut. My wife asked why I was shaving off the bark anyway, wouldn't the fire burn it off? Is it necessary to trim bark or will it matter? I am concerned about moldy mossy stuff producing bad smoke. What say ye?

    it doesnt bother me to have some bark on the wood, we use so little wood in the egg anyways. maybe makes a difference with a big stick burner or something
