bring on the butts! Bought it through the US....with shipping over $100 cheaper than Canadian pricing and delivered to my door! Gotta scratch my head.
Anyhow, any intstallation tips or pointers I should look for when it arrives from current Guru owners?

Thanks

    Wayne,

Did you get the guru or digiq. The guru was great, couple of knobs..no programming. The digi q is pretty straightfoward and a little playing gets it working. Unless, of course, you are one of those guys that reads instructions ;)

    Steve,

I got the guru. Simple is better for me. Thanks for pointing out the two models. My error in pricing....I was comparing US Guru pricing vs Canadian Digi Q.
I was told that the Digi Q has USB ports etc. I just want something that will maintain pit temps and monitor meat temps. I have used the Maverick E-73 for a couple years (still on same batteries that came with unit BTW....amazing just for that!) and it has served me well but time to upgrade.
Do you have the Guru and what has your experience been like?

    Thanks again

    Wayne,

I had the guru and it was sitting in my old gasser when we had a fire. I replaced with the Digi Q and have only used it a couple of times. The guru was really easy to use and the Digi Q a little harder. I really don't read instructions but I'm sure if I did I would like the DigiQ more. Now if I could just find those instructions.
If you got the 10 cfm fan make sure you damp it down to about 1/4 of the area.

Thanks Steve....ya I got the 10 cfm fan. Thanks for the advice. I am not a "techy" and am one of those people that basically use the bare minimum of what a product can do.....that and I dont read instructions either :)

if you are getting the guru competetor the first thing you might want to buy is some rain protection

"Guru" is the company. The older Guru was called the "Competitor" while the current single-cooker model is the "DigiQ II".

The CyberQ II has the USB port. The DigiQ II is the current single-cooker model that controls one cooker and monitors one food probe. Again, "BBQ Guru" is the name of the company. The older model with two knobs was called the "Competitor".

Thanks for the clarification....got the DigiQ II system. My initial pricing was correct btw US and Canadian pricing.
The Cyber Q II is the same price in the US (actually a bit cheaper) than the DigiQ II in Canada.
