ive been wanting to do a traditional new england lobster bake for some time now and am loking for some ideas for doing it in the egg. i am thinking about building a small well lit fire in the bottom then filling with rocks to hold the heat for a fair amount of time. the small fire to keep the smoke down. potatoes and onions covered with seaweed on the first grate with corn. lobsters clams and mussels above. has anyone done anything like this. any reccomendations on time and temp.

    fishlessman,
I wouldn't go puttin rocks in the Egg, if they get too hot they could pop and do some damage, besdides the Egg will hold quite a bit of heat for quite some time. I'm not too sure about the seaweed either, might take some doing to get the smell out of the Egg when your done. I've talked to a couple of clambake caterers here on Cape Cod, and when they do the real deal on the beach in a pit, they prefer to use burlap soaked in seawater rather than seaweed.[p]I grill a lot of lobsters and shellfish on the Egg, hot and quick though, and believe me, it's ALL GOOD![p]Cheers and Good Q,
