    monkey puncher,
I have never put onion in my coals, but have seen posts where others do this. It is said to drive the neighborhood nuts with the wonderful aroma.[p]~nikki

monkey puncher,[p]I've never put them in the fire, but I cut a sweet onion in half, baste with butter and cook at 300-325 for around 35 minutes. It tastes like candy...[p]Ryan

    monkey puncher,
    Yes,Yes,Yes,
I do it all the time, that is how I get my smoke fix when I have too much food on hand and can't cook anything. One onion cut in half (don't ask my why)and a chunk of my favorite wood, usally pecan. I have had three cooker going and no food in any of them. Yep, neighbors asking, what are you cooking, that smells sooooooo gooddddddddddd. LOL[p]I do usually put a cut onion in the lump wheneve I cook.[p]Regards,
