Anyone else encounter a mate or children who complain that BGE creations are "too smokey"? HELLO....this is what smokers do. I don't even use chips or anything else to create "more smoke." Am I resigned to a life of constant bitching and moaning? Is there anything I could do to attempt to address their concerns? (Not agreeing that I will, mind you). Anyone else deal with this??

  • Can't Win For Losing,
You can use charcoal which puts out less smoke. You might be able to find Cowboy charcoal locally, which has less smokiness to it than some. You might also try www.wickedgoodcharcoal.com for their Competition Blend. And finally, you might try Kamado for their charcoal. They have some that is about as close to smokeless as you are ever going to find.[p]TNW

We're on the edge too... My son hates a brisket, while my wife and I love it.... I cooked one today, and his reaction was "what am I gonna eat?".... [p]Now he loves salmon, chicken and pineapple on the egg... but not beef... such moaning and groaning....

Can't Win For Losing,[p]You could get a set of gonads and just tell them you'll be cooking for yourself and if they don't want any they should fend for themselves.

    Can't Win For Losing,
I get this all the time, especially from my wife. I try to minimize the smoke, but there are times I really hear about it. Since I do all the cooking, I feel kinda guilty at times, and I want to tell them to "cook your own." But of course I don't...I live by the theory "If she ain't happy, you ain't happy." I prefer they are happy with the cooking. [p]There are some foods I have tried and tried to create on the BGE and I just can't satisfy 'em. Steaks, for instance. They are done to perfection and they don't like 'em. I got out the old gasser last week and everybody was gushing with happiness over the steaks...except me. Oh well, it's that learning curve thing.[p]Although I can smoke the daylights out of certain foods and they are all happy...ribs, pulled pork, salmon....I have to go EZ on chicken, and to the gasser with pork chops and steaks.[p]Mike in MN
