If you have a favorite Bean recipe that you cook on the BGE or elsewhere, please share same with the members. I have been on a search for BBQ beans, and searching for others
Thanks

  • Hammer,
here's mine. .. first, pick out a pot you will be willing to get smoked and gungy on the egg. . .i have an old aluminum one that is now my baked bean and chili pot for the egg, it is developing a nice 'patina' from all the smoke. . .[p]i take a couple of large cans of bush's baked beans (my family's favorite). . .add a chopped up onion, about 1/2 cup of brown sugar, about 1/3 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce. . .a splash of tobasco (or any other hot sauce in your fridge). ..lay 4 or 5 slice of thick sliced bacon on top. . .set in the egg at about 325 dome temp for about 3 hours. . .really good. .. variations. . .add wood to the fire for a smokier taste. . . .add a pound of cooked ground beef or shredded pork for a nice baked bean casserole. . .[p]enjoy[p]p.s. i'm sure you will get some excellent ideas for making the beans from scratch but i just don't have the time for that one. . .but if you do, i'm sure you will get a lot of other great ideas

    mad max beyond eggdome,
I found a ceramic bean pot. It works great. Cleanup is easy.[p]

Hammer, In the winter I only eat scratch beans in Bean Pot set in oven at 215 degrees just before bedtime. They cook all night and will be done in time for breakfast. With the Egg I am lazy so all I do is open a large can (26oz)of regular B and M beans, place in foil loaf pan, spread 1/2 cup brown sugar on top, cut onion slices on top of that and place bacon slices on top. Cook at 325 in Hickory smoke indirect fire for 1/2 to 1 hour. Chuck pan when done.
