Sorry, but I have been out of touch mostly, and have not been able to keep up on all th threads. The thread way down about the activity of this forum was fun to read...all the different reasons why folks come here. [p]Just wanted to add that one of the many reasons this forum is so active is that there is a wealth of knowledge just hanging around waiting for a question that is up their alley. You could ask a question and get answers from several true experts. Ask a question about duck, and djm will be all over it....as well as the people who have learned from djm and added their own twist....or even those who don't know djm from adam and know a bunch about duck.[p]Or you ask a question about knives, digital cameras, or any cooking gadget in the world, and MikeO will jump in. Ask about cold smoking, and Ashley, Chuck, Froxen Chosen and many others will jump in with their expertise in this area.[p]Seems like no matter what you ask about, it is answered. If not on the forum, several kind eggers (or readers) will email you. You don't just get the answer, you learn so much more. [p]The pool of intelligence here is diversified and rich. Combined with Ray Basso's BBQ Forum (thebbqforum.com), you are all set.[p]Man. That was as long as a Stump Baby story, and not nearly as entertaining.....but I figger it is worth saying. All who share their diversified knowledge here are appreciated by many.[p]Beers! Sleep!

The Naked Whiz -
The Naked Whiz,[p]Sure..pick on the Stump when he's down on his luck..but I suppose how could you know today I lost my prized 4 year old..pinky toe ..toe nail..just when it was about ready to be harvested..really all my fault ..I had been using it to scrape ice for some famous StumpBaby snow cones...I was surrounded by anxious children..and just when I was pulling it across the block of ice for that one last pinch of shaved ice..a destinctive snapping noise was heard..as we all looked down..and saw..my poor exposed pink flesh..the very tip of the tiniest of toes..which hadn't seen the light of day in more than three years...now bulging out over the jagged edge of the broken nail..threatening to pop like a cherry tomater...and the broken nail...laying there..next to the block of ice..a mere remnant of what it had been...once destined to be fashioned into a beautiful letter opener for momma..now most assuradly..destined to become a lowly hoof scraper...ahhh...the pain..and yet as I stood there..trying to contain my grief...remembering all I had done to protect this item from this very sort of accident...the shoes with the hole cut in them..resisting temptation to kick Beulah (this was most difficult the day she took the last of mommas prized pickles...when she spent no less than three hours running around the house..that solitary pickle raised in the air..taunting....screaming.."I got a pickle and you don't... nanny nanny moo moo")..ahh..but I perservered..and yet..here I sit..after all the sacrifices I made..only to be staring down at the broken nail..like a shattered dream...the children slowly becoming impatient...yelling for their snow cones..appparently not quite understanding the brutal disappointment...and..now..to add insult to injury..I have to find a different gift for mommas birthday...she will be soo disappointed...I could tell all these years..that she knew what I had planned for that prized nail..ahh..how she would look down at it..and a smile would spread across her face..a loving look in her eye..never once asking about it..probably knowing it would spoil my surprise...[p]ahh..the life of a Stump[p]StumpBaby

StumpBaby,
Sounds like the inspiration for a good name for a punk rock group.[p]"Toenail Snowcone".[p]Stump, that was a classic. Thank you.
