Turducken at Publix? BTCMD Award to Max
bubba tim

So there I was this am picking up some odds and ends and spotted a boxed and frozen Turducken in the case that holds the frozen turkeys at Publix. Hmmmm thats interesting I thought. I asked LC if she had seen the Turducken at Publix before and she replied that she had not. So I tought that I would post on the forum about it and decided first to do a search. (What a concept!)
It seems that our fellow egger, Mad Max, did one from scratch last Dec. Max that was impressive! So much so, I am awarding the first ever, BTCMD Award for fowl. Congats! Here is the link for that post:

bubba tim and little chef. . . on behalf of the academy, i'd like to accept this truly impressive award...being first is a true honor...ranks right up there with my certificate for being the first official guest at the 'chicken coup'. .. .i've been told by the spawn that i have to make another turduckhen soon when her roomate and some other college friends come to the house in a week or so. ...

LC and I have been talking about doing one for years. I think I would build it with a temp in the chicken and the duck and have the wires come out of the turkey..Did you ice the breast down on the turkey?
Also, email me your mailing address for your hat pin.You must master temp, smoke, and time to achive moisture, taste, and texture! Visit www.bubbatim.com for BRISKET HELP -
LOL .. .thanks for the pin. ..you have email ...
as for temp probes. . . i simply checked temp with my thermopen ... .but i was careful to make sure i hit the various layers of meat and made sure the i hit both duck and chicken in the middle and both reached around 175 . ...and yes i absolutely iced the turkey breasts to make sure they stayed moist while all that internal meat cooked ... .although i'm convinced the key to the whole turduckhen experience is the self basting caused by the layer of duck skin/fat that is cooking in the middle of the whole thing. . .
go ahead, give it a try. ..it really isn't that hard, particularly if you 'cheat' a little like i did . ..
