Florida/Nature Coast Q-Fest - Oct 10-13, 2003

Zip, Banker John and I have been working quietly behind the scenes to organize a fun-filled weekend of BBQ cooking, sharing recipes and techniques, kicking back and watching the smoke rise while enjoying a gathering for friends and family in the great outdoors here in sunny Florida. This is a BYOCC (bring your own ceramic cooker) event, so pack up the cars, SUV's, and trucks with your cookers, camping gear, bikes, canoes and kayaks, and come join the fun![p]Our event is planned for October 10-13th at Silver River State Park near Ocala, FL. Come for just a day or spend the weekend! If you're into camping (either RV or tent) the sites are large and each has water and electric. If camping is not for you, there are lovely cabins available but these are booking fast so get yours reserved today...[p]We have a number of door prizes being donated by some very generous folks including:[p]Rubs and Sauces by Ken Stone

An original Gridlifter by Lawn Ranger[p]We have rented a large pavilion (courtesy Banker John and SunTrust Bank) to use for our cooking pleasure on Saturday and Sunday and as a primary location for the festivities. Other activities at the park (for those NOT cooking, such as spouses and children) are hiking, biking, and canoeing. There is a museum and pioneer village for history buffs (I think there is a $2/person fee, but have to confirm).[p]There will be a full moon that weekend, so a moonlight paddle on the Silver River is being considered, but we don't have all the logistics worked out yet....so stay tuned![p]If you are planning to come, give me a shout back just to let me know for planning purposes. If you've reserved a site, please let me know which one. I'm trying to keep track of the # of adults and # of children, as well as where folks are staying. Also, if you're planning on bringing a cooker, please let me know which one (large, small, etc.) so we have an idea of how many we'll have available for sharing. We're still hoping to get some cookers from BGE to demo which would be available for sale afterwards, but have run into problems with getting a local dealer on board. I have faith that all will work out in the end, so we're enthusiastically moving forward with plans....[p]Come and join us!

I like the idea the BGE meeting in Ocala. I live in Bartow and Ocala is only a couple fo hours north of here. It will be a time to meet the fl.eggers.Can't wait![p]
