New Houston BGE owner...

Just want to add a few comments from a new owner of a BGE. First, I have been wanting one for several years and finally had the funds available for one. I started calling around and every place I called in Houston (except for the one I didn't call - I'll get to that) said they had demos available to look at, but to purchase one, it had to be ordered. So I ventured down to one of the "chain" BBQ stores on a Saturday, was told if I ordered a BGE it would be in on Wednesday....I paid for one and a few accessories, i.e. metal top, nest egg, temp gauge, and cover...I called on the following Wednesday and was told "it will be NEXT Wednesday before your BGE arrives". I had waited for 3 years for my BGE and I decided I would rather not wait another week!![p]So, I called the one Houston area store I hadn't called previously (because of the distance from my house) and guess what: Chim-Chimneys in League City has them IN STOCK!!! And for a better price!!! And with a much better attitude!!! I called the BBQ chain and cancelled my order and drove down (over an extended lunch) to League City. Everyone I have told about my BGE have also been told of the great people at Chim-Chimneys, Inc. [p]So far, in one week, I have cooked the best steaks I have ever cooked, a chicken, 2 turkey breasts, and a discounted $2.50 roast that melted in our mouths!![p]For years I have grilled on Weber charcoal grills - never propane - this BGE blows the old one away!![p]One more piece of info on the BBQ "chain"...My credit for the canceled order hadn't shown up in my account for several days. I used my debit card so the $$ came directly out of checking. After several days of being told "the credit will show up in a few days", I finally made the drive over there and at THAT time the salesman manually entered the credit for my return!!! Unbelievable...[p]If you made it through my post - thank you...I look forward to learning and sharing for years to come!!!

    Chubby,
I don't know about "fearless leadership" but I do know the list is growing as some of the Eggheads in other cities asked to be added. So I went back to the Profiles and pulled everyone from Texas and made a new list. It is up to about 47 or 48 names now and some are expressing interest in a Texas Eggfest. We just may be able to get some sponsorship and really do it up right. [p]Where there's fire, there's smoke.[p]Spring Chicken

  • Spring Chicken,
I live in Dallas. Would love to be included in any possible TxEggFest communication. Will add my info to the profiles list.

Newbie.....,[p]Welcome . . . glad to hear you finally got squared away. Those people down at Chim-Chimneys are super nice, and they've got so much in stock. When they haven't had something in stock, or didn't even carry it normally, they ordered it for me anyway. Great people.[p]Welcome to the Houston area Eggers club (no, we're not official, but our numbers our growing). We hope to organize a Houston area Eggfest sometime in the near future.[p]Happy cooking,[p]TRex

Welcome to the BGE forum! You made a wise investment. When it comes to the Houston area, you found the right place to deal with in Chim-Chimney's.
