I've never tried these sauces or spices. You've both said they're very good.
According yto their web site, there's quite a few sauces, spices, "packages".
Any recommendations?
I have a colleague in Windsor tonight and I've asked him to pick me up some. Now that I've seen the web site, I wonder if I should tell him to get specific items.
Recommendations?

Michael,
I grew up in that neck of the woods so I am familiar with the Tunnel BBQ. There was a bit of a dust up in the family that ran the restaurant with one of the members going off on her own selling spices and sauces. The website is http://www.valeriesflavours.com/. You can even order on-line.Tom

So are you recomending Valries instead of TBQ ?
From Valeries web site, it would appear that they have the "original" recipe. Not sure if that means it's better or not.

Hi Michael,
I am also only familiar with Valerie's sauces. I last purchased her sauce last summer at a Sobeys in Windsor. I have the sweet sauce, which I recommend, but the hot is also very nice. I have a few of the spices, and none of them have really grabbed me.
If your weekend sauce pickup does not work out, I would be happy to pick up a bottle of the sauce for you the next time I am there. I go almost every week in the summer.
By the way, have you ever been to Camp31 in Paris Ontario (just outside Brantford)? Genuine barbecue, the owner is originally from Louisiana, and the pulled pork sammiches are very good.

Do you think one sauce (recipe) is better than the other?
I don't have much expereince with sauces and rubs so I'd like to try some out based on people's recommendations.
This is just a fluke that my colleague is in Windsor tonight so I asked him to pick me up some TBQ sauces and spices. If he has time, he will - if not, I just might take you up on your offer.
I've never been to Camp 31 - do you take that route when you go to Windsor?
Did you see GOV's post about a possible Cdn Eggfest in Niagara - Sept 2009?
Could be interesting.

I like the hot sauce and used to lile the dry rub seasoning. Now I find the seasoning way to salty. maybe it is because of the change in the post below. I'm going to call the other place and see if thats why. The sweet sauce is good also.

I have not tried the Tunnel BBQ stuff since Valeries came into existence. It was recommended to me when I stopped by a local deli in the town where I grew up. The person at the Deli told me that it was a continuation of the old Tunnel BBQ stuff.
