They look great to me Steven...love those steaks..
-
Nice Steve,,, they look more like porterhouse. Thought you said you couldn't get good meat up there,,,those look real good.
-
Steve:
Looks like someone was nibbling on the one on the right - was that the tester steak?
They look kinda tiny Steve...but still yummy - I'm sure.
Michael -
Pat,
I didn't say we don't get good meat, just the lean cuts are too lean to cook. They were a bit thin, supermarket on sale so I hot tubbed them.

You should make 3 steaks then so there's no evidence.
Michael -
Michael,
I got them at Zehr's I think. 6.99 a pound. I could have got another.

Zehr's? Quick down and dirty - I thought they only had outlets in Wasaga Beach or cottage country...
Every try this place out?

What about this place - is it any good?
http://www.davesbutchershop.ca/
I know there are loads of farms up your way.
Michael -
Michael,
I haven't seen the organic farm but I know Dave. He is a great guy and I sometimes just stop in to STS with him. We ar lucky here cause Caledon East has two competing gourmet/butchers. There are great farm markets and Orangeville has a lot of good places. You should come up and I'll take you shopping.

I just might take you up on that sometime this summer.
When I saw Pat's post earlier about not having any good meat up here, I almost fell of my chair as I have access to all kinds of great meats.
A huge selection, different price points, etc.
Michael
PS - Beretta's sells product at grocery stores too! -
Michael,
That was a reference to something I posted a while ago about eye of round. Just cant cook Canadian stuff.

Them is porterhouse. The best of both worlds. Nice steaks.
Mike -
Great looking steaks! Im due one myself. Maybe later in the week.
-
Mike:
Is it really a porterhouse or does the tenderloin look bigger because of the way it's cut from the bone?
I always mess up Porterhouse versus T-bone.
Michael -
Look at the size of the tenderloin, that would be a normal filet size the way it looks. Maybe just not as thick. There is only way to cut them correctly. Some stores get by with about a 1/3 of that size and call them Porterhouse.
Mike -
I knew that the Porthouse had a larger tenderloin section, but I thought based on the photo that it just looked bigger because of the way it was cut from the bone.
Is it safe to say the larger (or in this case rounder full size) tenderloin makes this a Porterhouse and not a T-bone.
Always good info to know.
Thanks,
Michael -
Just my opinion but yes.
Mike -
They sell those steaks as Porterhouse here. Looks like someone already had a sample on the right-hand side there
-
Mike,
Thanks. They were good. I am going to run out and get some more while they are on sale. Canada AAA or better which is choice to prime if I remember right. $6.99/lb.
