Hey guys! First time poster here. I've been debating buying an egg for over three years, finally decided to take the plunge on the 21st of May and bought one.
Replacing a 24 year old Weber 3 burner, decided it was time to do it right. All that said, I don't have any pics of my first cook yet because I'm taking my time building the table which is closely based on Naked Whiz's Plans.
I switched to 1x4 S4S Fir (finished all sides) and 2x4 for the legs. I'll gladly share the plans if anyone asks.
Here's how the table looks after I finished the top, but before I routed it. Note the decorative arcs on the end

Thinking about Pizza for the first cook as it should be easy to get the egg hot, instead of messing with being finicky with temperature.
Any other tips for the first timer?

Welcome and very nice table. Grandpas Grub usually posts a wide variety of links for you to read and get you started on the right track.

table looks really nice!!
if i were you i would cook something easy so you can learn some temprature control. pizza is a little bit of challenge if you have not tried to control temp..
also one thing you might want to do is to "break your gasket in" slowley.. if you try throwing the spurs to the egg on the firsat try you might not have good gasket results.. we have heard of them comming loose.. but no big worry Big green egg knows about it also and they have a nomex gasket that is a really good fix. the problem seems to be in the adhesive..
anyway you have found the right place stick around and keep taking pictureshappy eggin

Hello and welcome, Corren. You are going to have a great time egging, especially with that table. And we will look forward to seeing pics of your cooks.

Welcome to the Cult. 3 years huh? It's about time! :silly:

Very nice looking table
you might want to do a little lower cook for the first cook than pizza. unless you bake them at the 500 degree mark. there have been a few issues with the gaskets and some believe that staying away from high temp cooks the first few cooks will help save them. sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't
But welcome and enjoy your egg. you might want to make room for another egg int there. they tend to multiply

They do indeed multiply!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations.
That is a great looking table. You have done a great job making the hole for the egg. For the life of me I can't get a cut like that.
Looking forward to seeing the end result and some of your cooks.

Thanks for the compliment.
I took my time making the circle. A few tips:
#1 I made a stencil out of a ruler to make a circle with a radius of 10.5", nailed one end into the dead center of the circle, and drew the circle with a pencil on the other end. That left me with a perfect circle.
#2 I used a brand new "clean cut" blade on my jigsaw, and set the speed to medium-low, auto trigger, and took my time.
#3 After the cut was finished I used 220 grit paper to smooth any splinters out
Let's hope the cooking turns out as nice as the table is going... -
Very nice job on the table, and that garage, wow, you could park a car in that!
Welcome aboard -
Garage is a mess :(
Wife's car is temporarily outside, and I don't have a car right now, so yea, I'm a little messy. -
Nice job on the table! Be sure to burp the egg while at high temps, or you may get some nasty burns. Congrats and welcome to the EggNation!

Great job on the table
Jump right in with both feet....pizza, go for it
Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks for the tips, I am even more impressed that was done freehand with a jigsaw.
It will be fun to see the finished project.
