Anne,
It's Queen Victoria's birthday dont'cha know. Now you would think that we wouldn't celebrate something that ancient but then we would lose a holiday. It is commonly referred to as May 24 (two four) which is the same number as bottles of beer in a case lovingly called a twofer. It's one of the two days of the year we shoot fireworks.

Thanks Steve!! I didn't know that, especially about the two-four. I'm always learning something new on this forum.
Is this a paid holiday for your employees?
-
Hi Anne:
Sorry for jumping in on the post...just thought i'd share a little more info.
The Victoria Day holiday is a statuatory holiday. If you have a full time job, you get a paid holiday. If you have to work you get paid overtime unless you're salaried.
Victoria Day - more commonly known as May 2 4, it signals the beginning of summer for most of us Ontario folk. Most people use this holiday weekend to: 1) Party outside to get rid of winter cob webs - camping, jumping in the lake when the water's still cold [great for hangovers by the way], 2) Open up their cottages, 3) plant their gardens as frost is unlikely (by still possible) after May 2 4.
PS - Steve - I'm in denial too! My optometrist told me that I needed bi-focals but I couldn't bring myself to wearing them as I go up and down stairs everyday and I'd prbably wipe out. So, I now have 1 pair of glasses for long and 1 for short. Ha! Ha!
It looks dumb, but it's safer.

Anne,
Yes it is :pinch: :pinch: :pinch:
BTW, we have to be prepared for a holiday here, everything is closed except convenience stores and gas stations. We can't by beer at those places.

Mike,
I have like a hundred pairs of Costco readers. Never have them when I need them though.

Why don't you and the poolgirl get together and think up something as bright as you can between you. He won't be any help anyway.

Desperate times call for desperate messures. (If I run out, it's only 30 minutes to the Border!)
