Best thing you ever Egged...

SkySaw
Posts: 656
I have been egging for almost 3 years now, and I really love my LBGE. I've had lots of great cooks on it - heck I think that it is worth getting an Egg for the spatchcocked chicken alone, let alone t-rexx'd steaks.
The best thing I have ever cooked on my Egg was a rib roast. I prepared it as a traditional oven roast (rubbed with salt, pepper, olive oil, and garlic), and cooked it indirect, starting at 425 and cooking at 400 until rare.
What's the single best thing you ever served off your BGE?

Been cooking for over 10 years so in no particluar order.
Crab stuffed prawns.
Blackened fish. Tilapia or catfish.
Scampi, woked or on a sizzling platter.
Cured salmon.
Baked catfish.
Runners up include crab cakes, salmon patties, scallops. :woohoo: :woohoo:
Maybe I should have had 10?

SkySaw,

single best may be a really tough question. .. .i've made lots of really good stuff (think mad max turkey's, prime rib, t-rex steaks, beer can chickens, unique stuff like escargot, osso bucco, souffles, etc) ... . but if i think like a figure skating judge (high degree of difficulty, presentation, taste, the works), probably the most single spectacular thing i've ever done on the egg was the day i prepared and cooked a turduckhen on the egg.. .not only did it come out looking great, but the taste was right over the top as well. ... might have been my single greatest achievement on the egg (at least according to the spawn). ..

Brined, smoked turkey breast. It was the BEST ever. Though I don't think it can hold a candle to Mike's seafood.
-
hey, i did!!. . .

It's a toss-up. Could be the butt that is on the LBGE right now, or possibly the wild salmon done with Chris' Ragin' River rub. Smoked hard boiled eggs made into deviled eggs, finished with a sprinkling of Ken's Witchy Red, were pretty spectacular. The Cajun Meatloaf (see submitted recipes) is darn good too.

Mike! Where did you get that blackening skillet? I had one made by a fella in Florida up until Hurricane Andrew blew all my stuff away. I haven't been able to find one since.

doing well, thanks for asking. ...nasty as ever. ..and of course, since she has returned from the dead, she has determined that she is officially a zombie now, so we do refer to her as our zombie princess now. ...the wife doesn't think much of it, but i'm ok with it so long as she doesn't start eating entrails!!

I've had that for years. It was either Wally World or a Kitchen Supply outlet and Lake of The Ozarks. I went to Cabels a couple weeks ago and picked some nice single serving CI dishes. I think they had them there. Fits perfect on the spider.

Tough question...
My favorite was a mahi-mahi over mixed grilled veggies:
The family would probably choose one of my Mad Max turkeys: -
not as hard as you'd think. .. de-boning the turkey is the hardest part cause you have to be careful not to tear the skin. .. .the duck and the chicken you can pretty much hack apart as they are buried inside the tukey. .. and i did cheat a little on the stuffing, using two different stouffers instant stuffings, but adding stuff to them ... . you can google the whole thing in the archives. .. .the best part though was the stock i made from the turkey AND duck carcasses which made for the absolute best mad max gravey EVER ...
-
that all depends. .. she takes me everything i'm worth!!!
:woohoo: -
ha.
as bad as it was, it was still better than anything you ever served us.
