XL setup

Man, that big guy took a lot to get warmed up last night, but thank goodness for the DigiQ--it worked like a champ holding the pit temp at 250° after huffing and puffing away for around 30 minutes following the initial food load out. Polder in one roast, DigiQ food probe in the other. One is at 134° and the other at 146° so it'll definitely be something for dinner.

Glad to see you get that big boy working, gotta earn it's keep huh? I know you will get good use out of it.

Mike,
Is that brand new? I am just waiting for it to warm up outside so I can put mine together. Doing ribs for tonight. First XL cook for me in 2 1/2 years.

Mike you need to rename him to : FAT BOYSalado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd.

Yessir...I've always used cookers with lots of space, and I'm happy to have the BGE version. He will definitely earn his keep, and it started last night.

Steve,
Is sure is new (see how shiny?) I won an LBGE at the Eggfest, and worked out a deal with the guys to trade up for an XL. I kept the beautiful table, though. I really love all the extra space the XL affords me. Curious to see how long the full load of lump will last. The pork butts are actually in the plateau at the moment, but I'll be putting a fatty and maybe some andouille on the cooker later on today. -
Yessir, that will be his new name. He's something else, Mickey--glad to have him available as a tool in the toolbox.
-
Mike,
I've never had a problem with lump on the XL and have done loads of butts. I think temp control is better on it as well. Now I gotta go and brave the elements to put it together.

Hey easy on the girl, she's just big-boned. I started on the XL and also have a large, sometimes you need more room for those bigger cooks. Have fun!

Mike,
Ribs are going on the large. What a bear to assemble. My old XL was delivered assembled.

Bean hope you enjoy the big boy, I love mine. The lump consumption isn't too bad compared to my large. It is nice to have the space without a fuss.

Steve i thought you were good with tools?? not that much to it for assembly :woohoo:
