I am looking for a couple of replacement gauges for my large and XL. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions. My style of cooking is "everything". Low and slow and hot and fast. Thanks!

Down about half way. BGE replacement thermometers.

I have one LT225R that goes from 150 to 750°F for low and slow, and a LT225R that goes from 200 to 1000°F for higher temp cooks. I did not know that they had special replacement thermometers for the Mini. Might just have to order a couple, one for each heat range. ;)

That's what I was looking at. I was wondering if that was the best choice or maybe one of the others. Not really sure what I want to do. Seeing how the temp on my large is reading 180 right now and I have not cooked on that egg in 2 days, It might be time for a replacement!!!
  • Well, I don't know where you are, but I'm in Central Florida, and this time of year, sitting out in the sun, mine can actually be 180 plus without a fire.

Those work great, and don't cost a lot when/if you need to replace them.

Have you checked your present one(s) for correct calibration?

I'm in eastern NC. It's reading 180 right now, at 9:30 at night. They are definatly off. That one has always given me trouble. I'm ready to replace it.

I have been using the Tel-Tru for about 3 years and I find it much more accuate than the BBE tem guage. I hav e cleaned the point with steel wool after about 21/2 years. I smoke alot and I thought the point might be coverd with smoke and I thought that might effect the accurate temp. I do not know what model I have but it goes from about 150 to 1000. When my table caught on fire under my egg it was reading about 1200. If iclean out the egg I am able to get the temp in the dome up to about 900 but we donot have any humidity up here so probably able to get a higher temp than place where you have high humidity. (Sorry)

The Tel-Tru thermometers are a good choice. Here's a link to my web page on the topic:

    Good luck!
