Is it true that one will spend the same amount in accessories as the cost of ones BGE ? How much can one spend on accessories ?

You can spend a lot or a little. For the 1st year I had the basics and as I became more proficient and the cooks more elaborate I added to my accessories. They all come in handy...buy only the things you will use and enjoy them when you use them....

nope that is actually wrong cause i have at least three times the cost of an egg in eggccessories!! :woohoo:

Don't try to rebuild Rome in a day. I have a wish list a page long. take your time and get the essentials for now. Then you will have a better idea for what you need based on what you want to do.

I have had my egg for a little over a year. I only have about $400 in eggessories which include a thermopen and digiQ for the most of that. I used grates off my old brinkman with some SS threaded rod (just happened to find some at work that was miscut
)for an second level. An ash tool and plate setter. There is a lot more I want but all in do time.

Will one spend the same amount on accessories? No.
How much can one spend on accessories? Depends on what is called an accessory. Patio? Enclosed Patio?
What you spend is going to depend on you. Are you a person who likes a lot of gadgets/toys.
If you get an egg with an ash tool, grid lift, some lump, then there are a few accessories I would get.
For me the following are musts.
. For my large:
. Adjustable Rig & Spider
. Thermapen
. Maverick ET-73
. DigiQII or Stoker (Powered Vent System)
. Thirdhand Grid lift (mentioned above)
Nice to have but not necessary.
. Small Rubber Maid Type tool shed for eggs & stuff
. Dutch Oven (already had a few of these)
. Cast Iron Skillet (already had a few of these)
. Cast Iron Grid
. MAPP/Propane Torch (I already had)
. Weed Burner - I use when is is very cold
There are some other things but all inexpensive.

This has been the cheapest grill for accessories that I have owned. Of course another egg is on the wish list (is that an accessory?)
My list, for my medium
(btw my package came with a plate setter and ash tool - I think they thought the platesetter was a pizza stone because that's what they agreed to throw in )
Woo ring
Third hand
Thermapen
some cheap pizza pans for drip trays (cost me £5)
S/S mixing bowl for firebox mod
pizza stone (but haven't used in almost a year)
Already had
Grill wizard brush
Chimney starter
Good Grips large tongs
charcoal storage and so on
Played but not real keepers:
BBQ guru golf club
Mapp torch
Of course one day I'd like to build a table, maybe a cooking area, running water, patio.....
Oh and one day I'll possibly get a Guru
